I don't think changing the crank in car would be *that* bad... gotta
remove the tranny regardless. Once you do that, you can shift the
engine over some to get better access to the front cover... problem
is supporting the sucker in place there, with no engine mounts and
no oil pans. :-) Cherry picker... or a 4x4 across the engine bay with
line wrapped around the engine. Yeah...

Good. Baby Nathaniel is getting bigger. He's 8 mos, and will be
crawling or perhaps even walking soon. Quite the adventure. He's been
in swimming classes since 6.5 mos, he loves it. He'll be ready for
the boat soon...

So, the car broke as I was driving out to the second day of a
project at a new client site. Nice open highway, high-RPM driving,
and then a strange new noise... I'd thought that very morning about
checking the oil, since I hadn't done so for a while. Running late,
so I didn't. Whoops. That was a Friday. The next day at 8:00 am I had
to be aboard a boat for the Race to Mackinac, 330 miles from Chicago,
the world's longest freshwater sailboat race. Bad timing. The race
was fun, slow start, but wind picked up and we made Mackinac around
3:30 pm Monday. The racing during the night was fun, strong winds,
running at near hull speed under spinnaker, fog, and ~ 300 boats out
there. We placed 13th in our class, and 39th overall.

Heh. The engine that just broke is from the burned up NX. I only
change the oil once or twice a year these days, the car isn't driven
a ton and most is in the city. Guess when I fix this I'll learn to
start checking oil at gas fillups again...
