engine stumbling

I think the problem has to do with the EGR, BPT and AIV valves
(particularly the EGR).  Over time the valve becomes increasing hard to
open and close causing the stumbling/hesitation from 2-3K.  I have the
same problem and plan to replace the valves soon.
