EGR/BPT issues same on low-port as high-port

When I had my '91 NX2000 several years ago, I was able to determine that my
EGR/BPT valves were not properly operating by removing the connecting hose and
putting rubber nipples on each valve. This allowed me to determine if they
needed replaced or not.

I am now having similiar issues with my '96 G20. Does the blocking off of the
valves work the same on the low-port? I'd hate to have to pay a service charge
for the dealer or local shop to test this for me.

There are no ECU CEL lights either. Code is normal.
