EGR and AIV do not operate at WOT so disabling them will not add power...
might even take it away. I had a MIL in my '96 GA16 that turned out to be a
blocked BPT tube and a cracked pressure hose to the BPT. When I fixed that
it went from 38 mpg highway to 41 and it feels like it has more power.

I don't know about the QR engines but the older SR engines disabled knock
sensor above 4k rpm.
