So... the weather was clear and relatively warm in the ATL today.. so i
think.. "good time to change the squealing belt i have". go to NAPA got the belts.
jacked the car up, pulled the wheel off, moved the splashguard, located the
alternator tensioner bolt... proceeded to wrench it to the left, moved fairly
easily... until... it SNAPPED IN HALF!! right at the top of the bracket it
threads through. summabeotch! spent the next 2 hours trying to track down a bolt
that would fit and was long enough. (8mm-1.25pitchX100mm long), yeah Ace has
though... shoot... Home Depot right?... dang.. well guess i'll drive 30min to
work and see if i have any on the shelf.. (i work at Fastenal) dang again... any
all thread i can cut..? nope..
finally found i had a 8x80mm socket head cap screw.. if fit and at 5 o'clock
got the bracket reassembled and tightened, at least i can drive to work and
pick up a replacement bolt from one of the jukyards close to work...
sometimes i hate my car.. especially when i am the stupid one...
bonus question: who knows what i did wrong.. i know the answer... after the
fact.
