starter trouble

Maybe your starter is just going bad. How many miles on it? When the
starter started to go in my 92, the problem began as a "bad spot" on
the starter. Once in a while (especially on cold mornings) the starter
would just click. There were two ways to start it:
1. Put the car in neutral, give it a little push to get it rolling,
and put it in 1st and pop the clutch. You can do this yourself -- the
object is just to get the starter to rotate past the bad spot, not to
push start the car.
2. Get a jump. The additional power from the jumper battery was
always enough to get it fired up.
Eventually I got fed up with these half-assed starting procedures and I
put in a new Mitsubishi starter. Sounds better at startup than the
Hitachi.

Unfortunately, the starter will now not turn the motor
over. It just makes a click. Does anyone have any
ideas on what might have happened? I can't see any
wires I might have disconnected. I am so pissed at
