If that is true, then I think his engine did more than lose a
bearing. In my engine, the bearing was completely gone, and I mean
completely. All the bearing material was down in the oilpan, nothing
but the very smooshed carrier left in the rod cap. So the rod was
basically banging directly on the crank. If his sounds "much worse"
then there is probably something much more broken. Take pictures once
it is opened up. ;-)
