Ben, here's a few more tips...

If you are careful, a straight razor can cut off
the more stubborn rtv from the pan and steel wool
will finish the job.

It would be a good idea to leave a big enough tray
underneath the panless engine as oil will be still
be slowly dripping out as you leave it unattended
waiting for your new bearings to come in.

Clean any old dried rtv goop off the top of the
oil pan bolts and lurking in the bolt holes.
Its possible to crack a boss on the block if there
was a "plug" of old RTV ahead of the bolt as you
tightened it down.

Check & top up your oil.  Much easier than
replacing bearings ;-)
