looking for winter car

I know I just sold my '91 se-r, but in about a month I'll be looking for a new
car for a winter 'beater'. I'm moving out to the east cost (currently live in
oregon), and need a car to drive in the winter. Price is the big thing here,
looking to find something for no more than $1-1.5k, and an se-r would be
nice, but for a beater i'd be willing to go the 1.6L route...

If you have something that might fit this and is in good enough mechanical
shape, please let me know,
