Dist Cap went KABOOM

This is the weirdest car thing I've seen...

Lisa says her NX cranks but won't start.  I pop the hood, and the coil wire
to the dist. cap is partially dislodged and charred looking.  I pulled it
off, and is looks just fine.  Eexcept the coil wire connector which looks
like Beavis & Butthead stuck an M-80 in its butt!

Any clues what might have caused this?!?!?
