Define "real thing". The G35 and the CURRENT Skyline are practically the
same car. Same platform, same suspension, same brakes, same interior
(well, more like a mirror-image). The R34 Skyline was a different animal
from the current Skyline, and the high-end trim levels (GT-R and so on)
were just that; trim levels. The last I heard, the "next generation" GT-R
was just a showcar, and not ready for production in Japan. Is my
information on that front out of date?

The same reason we don't have Cedrics, Glorias, and Primeras; it doesn't
fit in the Infiniti brand name scheme.

Uh, no. Ask your dentist what a Nissan Skyline is, since he's one of the
most likely candidates to buy one. Then ask him what he thinks of the G35
twins, and compare the results. The people who recognize the name Skyline
are mostly punkass kids (not unlike myself) with far more time than money,
and whom are barely able to afford payments on their Sentras, let alone
have a real chance of buying a G35.

I disagree 100%. People are buying the G35s as fast as they are dropped
off in dealer lots. In Kansas City (only about 1.5M residents), the
Infinity dealers are backordered for months with cash deposits on
preorders for weeks.
