You should follow the same procedure, used or new. This is because
the area between the cams and the rockers are fresh metal-to-metal
contact. The valves will be opened wider than before as well. You need
to apply assembly lube and all (insert Paule's lubrication joke here).

However, you might not have to go easy on cars for that many miles since
you mentioned about the "few" tanks of gas.
