*****The Konis are off-the-shelf B13 units, the
housings have been modified to enhance travel. On the
rears I cut the bottoms off the strut tubes, and added
1.75" of additional tubing (the same amount as the car
is lowered). So I retained full stock rear travel. At
the front, I could only lower the strut tube bottom by
about 7/8"....any more and they would interfere with
the CV boots. So in front I have lost 7/8" of travel
with 1.75" of lowering. With my relatively high spring
rates, this is acceptable. The car has not bottomed
yet.
Future plans call for some double adjustable short
Koni racing inserts, and custom fab'd aluminum strut
tubes. I will run higher spring rates, on the order of
650 lb. front and 375 lb rear. The strut towers I will
cut off and raise 2"...this way I can lower the car 4"
and retain full travel. Yes, I will be relocating the
suspension pivot points to correct the geometry and
making custom outer tie rods to reduce bump steer.
