Actually, I think for a 15 X 7 wheel, +35 would be optimal.
40 mm is the stock offset.  +35 gives enough room for me to
fit a 215-45-15 tire *perfectly*, filling out the wheel well,
this tire size also maintains the stock rolling circumferance
to an error margin of less than 1%.
