Start collecting Classified add information and then sending it to your
insurance company (and any other insurance company involved). Inform them
that you want replacement value. My car (1993 SE-R) had 210,000 miles on it
when I was rear ended in traffic by a Suburban. It did over $2800 in
damage. Granted, I had just put about $7000 in reciepts into the car for
engine, suspension and brakes but the method and information is still valid.
They were considering totaling my car but I provided both insurance
companies with actual worth data to replace it and they decided to have it
repaired instead. The nicest part about it was tehy cut me a check for the
Median Repair Estimate and then I had my brother in-law repair it. I paid
for materials, got his racing kart going and pocketed the remainder. It is
back on the road and looks good. Be persistent. Befriend a bodyman!
