Alas, this is not the case. I have put various
batteries in there, most recently the brand-new
battery that is in my daily driver '93, and there
is no change in the car's (non-starting) behavior.
And when the car originally died (about a year
ago), a jump-start was the very first thing I
tried. Unlike a jump when the alt. belt snapped,
it had no effect. Alack. So I know that, even
with a tip-top battery, it still won't start. I
think the main source of my puzzlement is that
its mode of dying was identical to when the alt.
belt snapped, yet it still won't start. When the
belt snapped, the car would eventually start
again on its own once the battery had time to
recover some charge.
