Well... the wires are NGK so not THAT old. Distributor, no idea. I think my
best bet after reading all this is that I should just start at a new
baseline by doing a complete tune-up; cap, plugs, wires, and ground the MAF.
If it is not too dark I will pull the plugs and see if they are gapped right
and/or fouled.

Anyone disagree with that logic?

How old are your cap, rotor, wires, coil and plugs?  I believe the coil and
wires have minimum specifications in the FSM.
