Oil temp gauge question

Ok

I have searched the crap out of the archives, and after perusing thru
countless new gauge installs, I found a few
hits, but none of them address my problem. My engine has not overheated,
after driving approximately 27 miles at 3:30 in atlanta highways, I get home
put the car in park and the temp is in the middle, so what's up, I may just
replace the thermostat to see if it's the culprit, plus I have close to 80k
and have not replaced the thermostat yet.

still any help would be great.
