Copper plugs don't last as long.  The electrode gets worn away by the
sparks, causing the gap to widen faster, weaker spark, etc.

Platinum plugs last far longer, and are cheaper in the long run.

My engine isn't on nitrous, but I was able to get 120K out of my original
NGK platinum plugs, and they still looked pretty darned good.
