Where does one get an engine for $250? I called Soko's representative
here in Illinois and the quoted me $1500 for a JDM DE engine. Am I
missing something?

Ratfink. ;-) Mein uberwagen manuals cost $125 for the 4 book set
(kept) and $202 for the 6 book set (sold - didn't need the 2 extra
books). What pisses me off is that I also need the 924 manuals to get
the complete information (Porsche doesn't include stuff common to the
924 in the 944 manuals. Grrr).

Mein Gott im Himmel!!

A used 944 engine "only" goes for about $500-1,000. Even 951 engines
are "only" about the cost of a DET. YIKES.

So, looking at your e-mail address.... Are you in Texas these days?
