In case anyone wants to know I put the Spec V's gearing into a 91 se-r.
With the spec V gearing the speed at 7500rpm is 31, 55, 86, 114, 142, 174,
now that is with the B15 195/50-15 tires. With the maxima 6spd its 39, 64,
90, 120, 159, 203 respectivly. Now the spec V's gearing would have the sr20
at 2600rpm in 6th gear at 60mph, while the maxima would be turning 2300rpm.
For comparisions sake the stock se-r gearing is 38, 63, 90, 119, 154mph.
Basically using the maxima's tranny would add a fuel economy 6th gear
[cartest shows 45mpg on the highway ;) ]. Meanwhile for those that like to
race the car the spec V's gearing would be better roadcourses (I think it
would at least). I've done some rollon simulations and 90% of the time the
se-r with the max tranny covers more distance in the same amount of time
(i.e. faster). Given the choice I'd opt for a maxima tranny, that 6th gear
would have you at 2300rpm @ 60mph. It wouldn't be till one was over 80mph
for the engine to turn over 3000rpm.
