Nope.  The input shaft does *NOT* insert into the pilot bushing.  The only
purpose for the pilot bushings in our gearboxes are to hold the clutch
alignment tool it seems.

I absolutely, positively guarantee you that it's true.

If you want more info, search the archives under pilot bushing or pilot
bearing.
