axle - new axles or new boots/repacked joints?

I will, in all likelihood, soon be
acquiring a 2nd Classic from my girl-
friend. The front axles need attention,
as the boots are torn, and my question
is this:

-will I be OK putting on new boots (the
good kind, not the kind that 'sew up')
or should I get rebuilt axles with new
joints (e.g. from raxles)?

These are the conditions:
I discovered the ripped boots around New
Year's, and I don't know how long they'd
been torn. The car has not been driven
since early to mid-January, and has been
sitting outside for the entire time since.
