Lost Power

Thanks to all the folks who responded to my inquiry about lost power. As it
turns out, the fuel pump was the culprit. It was hard to determine because
the fuel pump would lose pressure intermittently. When guy at the shop
started it up, everything seemed normal but then the sputtering started.
When he attached a pressure gauge to it, the pressure would start out at
30psi then suddenly drop to 15psi. Needless to say that once it got
replaced, all was better. He did, however, find some other things like my
front seal is starting to leak, my timing chain intermittently rattles on
start up, and my Hot Shot header is starting to crack right on the weld
where #1 and #4 meet. The cat looks okay for 10 years but could be
replaced. It looks like I'm heading for a rebuild. I've got 190K miles and
I think that I should get it rebuilt by 200K. May be I should get the head
Ported and Polished, and may be install the UR pulleys. I still have the
stock cams and a JWT ECU. I've read a lot about JWT cams and JUN cams but
I'm not a drag racer but a modest increase in hp would be appreciated. I'm
thinking about JWT S3's since I can get an ECU update rather easily and the
idle quality is good but do I really need the adjustable cam gears or are
the stock ones going to hinder the performance of the S3's. If I do the
rebuild, is there anything else that I could add or replace since the engine
is going to be apart already. Thanks again for all your help.
