Engine Temperature Sensor

I did a self diagnostic on my ECU and it is throwing two error codes, one for
vehicle speed sensor and the other temperature cooling sensor. Well, the
vehicle speed sensor I have to plug back up to the tranny. As far as the
other sensor my fans don't kick in at all ever since I did a motor swap, the
fans just don't kick in I changed the temperature sensor(the one to the ECU),
and the ecu(just to see if the other was going bad). The fans work with the
temp sensor unplugged but is causing my car to run rich and now i'm fed up. I
checked the connector for the temp sensor and it is getting 5V but every time
i plug it in fans kick off and never come back on. So basically i was
wondering if anyone can help me with this problem.
