1) Remove the cotter pin
2) Loosen the ball joint nut
3) turn the wheel
4) apply the ball end of a large ball peen hammer to the knuckle where it
picks up the ball joint
5) Wail on the flat end of the ball peen hammer with a big heavy hammer.
6) After 5-6 hits, the tone of the hammering will change, indicating that
the ball joint has separated. Use a pry bar between the knuckle and the
control arm to completely separate them.
