FW: Q Knock Sensors

In Oz, we have had a lot of trouble with the knock sensors on our
import cars. The Silvia SR20DET's and the Pulsar GTiR all seems to do
this from time to time. The car will loose power, the overboost
solenoid will shut down down returning you to 7psi, AFR's go rich and
the timing backs down. This is a permanent situation until you power
cycle the ECU to off for a few minutes. Even then there is no
guarantee that it will be running right when you restart.

Myself and man others have found that by unplugging the knock sensor
and bypassing the connector with a 1 meg resistor, the problem goes
away! THing is, I have a sneaking butt dyno suspicion that the ECU is
not happy about this fix either and may be retarding the timing as a
matter of course. Not sure.
