Non SER, tranny question

This is totally non SER, but I do know some specialists are here that
might be able to help.
I had a failure in the transmission in my GSX. Right now I am trying to
decide if cryo or a similar process may help it from coming back.
Long story short: high HP, 3rd and 4th gear pulls on DSM's pull the
intermediate and input shafts apart, which loads the gear teeth on the
outside edge. Eventually this will fatigue the gear and a tooth will
break off. We had this happen already and shimmed the shafts as close
together as possible while still allowing me to shift, and 16,000 miles
later I'm back here again. First time was 4th, this time was 3rd.

Look at the shaft in the forward portion of the pic (closest to the
viewer), look at splines then down, bearing, gear, space, then gear.
Right in the middle a tooth broke off clean.
I'm just curious as to if this a type of failure that cryo treating may
be able to help. Also need to know if both mating gears need the
process. I'm worried about shotpeening increasing the hardness of the
gear somehow and wearing at the mating surfaces on the other gear.
I only ask here because DSm guys scoff at cryo treating and similar
processes, where I know that on SR20DE trannies at least, it can help.
Thanks a bunch,
