If your rings aren't seated by 7K or even 3500K, you have other issues
besides the type of oil to use.

I switched my G20 at 145K. It had very few oil changes of dino oil
before that, Clogged cam oil tubes, worn cams, the works. Did a motor
flush and switched to synthetic. I have no other leaks than the oil
pressure sender that starts to leak on all high mileage SR20's, and that
was leaking before the switch. 156.9K as of last night, all is well with
the world.
