Someone on the board was asking for this. So i did a quick write up from
memory, should be right, on how to fix it. Dont know for sure if its in the
archives but I figure why not do it again. I know plenty of people complain
about this. Thanks to Wendy Davis for making Ben fix this since it gets
really cold in the NX and I showed him how to fix it. Ive done it about 3
times now. But dont know the offical name for that selector between the
vents, if anyone wants to add names to it for helping a search just reply
with it.

1: Remove the ring the shifter boot is attached to by pulling up the rear of
it, or gently pry the rear corners.
2: Remove the ash tray by pushing down the hinged metal flap.
3: Remove two screws under lighter and ash tray
4: Remove two screws over vents
5: Gently pull the top out, not all the way off just out, and work your way
down
6: After its unsnaped from the dash, take the heel of your palm and push on
the vents. They will pop out of the dash ring, allowing easier working
7: Unplug the three switches in the middle, then the 2 on the lighter.
8: Place ring in the back seat for safety.
9: Unscrew radio and unplug it, place in back seat.
10: Pull the vents out from the dash, look at lever. There should be a round
part hooked to the bottom, behind which is a black sheathed cable. You
should notice the sheathing is not attached to anything just going back and
forth when you change the lever, that is the problem.
11: Pull vents all the way out and point them down toward the ground.
12: Unscrew one screw in the middle of the vents.
13: Gently unclip this center piece from both vents.
14: Vents should fall apart, take note of how they go back together. Its
only one way but better to know what you are looking at.
15: Unhook the round eye from the lever.
16: Unscrew the one screw between the vents that has a tab. This metal tab
should be over the sheathing
17: Take a pair of needle nose pilars and gently squeeze the "dogs", teeth,
to make them a little closer and tighter, be careful tho not too much.

This is where an extra pair of hands can be helpful

18: Take the tab and sink the teeth into the sheathing not in the same place
as it was tho.
19: Screw tab back down
20: Hook eye back on lever
21: Check for operation.
22: Put vents back together, put the center holder back in and screw it
down.
23: Put vents back in dash.
24: Put radio back in.
25: Get ring out of back seat, plug in all wires, only go one way so dont
worry about it.
26: Snap ring back in, put it in the bottom first and work your way up.
27: Put screws back in
28: Put ashtray back in
29: Put boot ring back down, front in first then snap the rear down
30: Go brag that you fixed something without tearing anything up.
