Boost and timing vs compression ratio

Assume a daily driver capable of about 300 hp with a conservative (rich)
fuel mixture.  The turbo would be a GT28RS.

Which would be the best way to go with this with all things except timing
and compression ratio held constant?

Go with a DET and the 8.5 :1 compression and more timing or:

Go with the DE and run less timing?

I assume there is a larger picture that I am missing so any discussion
would be valuable to me.
