noise from bellhousing after JDM/tranny install

Sounds like a rod bearing problem. Who did you get the engine from ? Rod
bearings tend to rattle around 2500 RPMs. If you could get a sound clip it
would be great. To determine if its a rod bearing or not, remove a injector
connector from each cylinder while reving it up, compare each cylinder to
see if the noise is going down or not. By doing this you can determine which
rod bearing is beat up. Sometimes this calls for a new engine, sometimes you
are able to save the engine by removing the cross member, oil pans and
installing new bearings by using the grade #s stamped in the crankshaft.
