Was: N15 shocks Now: Springs and perches do, struts and shocks don't.

I seem to remember someone from this list educating
me about the difference between struts and shocks, and
I feel this vague need to iterate that here, even though
that's not what you actually asked.

Basically, struts are called so, because they locate the
suspension. They allow alignment change, but not height.

The way my B13 got a severe height change is twofold.
First, I got the Ground Control adjustable height coilover
kit. Second, I also installed the caster/camber plates along
with the short springs, and kit. One of these days, I'm
going to put 8" springs in front, but as long as I've been
threatening to do that, I've been getting along alright
without doing so.

To change ride height, you have to move the top, bottom
or both perches either up or down. As far as I know, the
KYB AGX's don't change the perch height at all, so no, it
won't change the ride height, and certainly won't necessitate
different springs.

Springs and perches change your ride height, but struts or
shocks do not.
