cruise control solved (I think/hope)

I finally got a chance to take a look at the car with the problem this
morning (haven't been near the car since last weekend) and it seems that
my suspicion with the ascd drum was correct. I've attached two links
below explaining what I'm talking about. Anyway, it seems that the 'nub'
on the ASCD drum that pulls the throttle open is bent back. This is why,
when I pull on the drum, it only catches the throttle when the ASCD drum
is pulled WAY back. That's just when the 'nub' is starting to catch the
throttle. So it looks like a pretty cheap part (18919-53J00 which lists
for $9.30) will get the cruise control finally working!
