Repeat Clutch Problem

I have to confess that I don't really know for sure.

But nevertheless, I feel the urge to speak up, even if
in ignorance, but if nothing else, maybe I'll prompt
a lurking clutch guru to jump in.

Anyway, here goes. I seem to recall from my
own clutch jobs that there was a relatively small
insignificant seeming spacer that went *somewhere*
in there. Maybe your needing that?

The next thing I thought of was maybe the
clutch disc is going on backwards (is this possible?)

Don't those springs go towards the pressure plate
rather than towards the flywheel? It doesn't seem
like it's oriented right if the springs can actually
make contact with flywheel bolts.

Did the original flywheel bolts get damaged or lost
and get replaced with something that the thread fit,
depth was right, but have some obscenely out of spec
head on them?

My next thought was that *maybe* your flywheel
has been resurfaced too much and you need one
that hasn't been resurfaced so much.

Lastly, do you pop the clutch a lot? Do you drag?
I kind of got the assumption from you post that you
just drive this thing as a mild mannered daily driver.

There's my $.20 ;) Good luck man.
