No thats how you do it.  And thats what happens.  There is a C-clip
that hold the axle in place.  You have succesfully pulled the axle
past the differential now you need to pull the axle past the
viscous coupling to get it out.

You can try another pry tool beeing carefull not to mess up
the axle seal.  Otherwise just try and get your hands in
there and yank away at it.  You have to pull on the part
closest to the trans and not the whole axle as pulling on
the whole axle will do nothing.

I hope you drained the tranny fluid first or jacked up one
side of the car about 14" or so to keep it from leaking out
on you.
