Question for M3 owners

Sorry for the off topic post, but I know how much we respect the M3 on this
list and I know there's a few owners out there.

I've still got new car fever and I've noticed a few used M3's available that
are in my price range.  I'm looking at a 97 with fairly hi miles (around
100k) and I'm wondering if it's worth it.  I really don't know much about
BMW's except that they can be pricey to repair.

How well do they last, are they not worth it after a certain mileage?
Are they any trouble spots to look out for?  (Sort of like the 5th gear
pop-out in our cars)
Are any years better/worse than any other years?
