If you consider 5% "a lot".  On a street car, who can tell the difference in
+ or - 5%?  Probably not very many people could and even if they could, is
it worth dumping out a bunch of unnecessary crap into our air for what I
would consider little if any gain?  At the track is different like I said
because the amount of polutants is not significant compared to regular
commuting on the average.  There are monkeys that do tear off all the
emissions, obviously.  I may be a monkey myself at times but I am not so
selfish as to blatantly polute for no reason other than cheapness and
laziness.  If the engine as a whole, is built right (including all of the
assecories, emisions etc.) it will run clean as orignially intended and make
just as much power as a DUFUS tuned system.

Where is that monkey wrench.... I need to tighten a muffler bearing...

If this is the point of contention, Jizz is right.
Getting rid of the precats with a cattman down pipe is
worth 12-15 whp on a Maxima.
