As far as I know, the turn 2 seconds/turn back thing is only how you check the
codes
on the ecu, to reset it, you need to disconnect your battery for 30 minutes or
more.

It sounds like your car was on while the MAF was disconnected, once the code's
in the
ecu, you have to disconnect the battery to get rid of it.

To be 100% certain, disconnect your battery over night, the next morning, plug
it in
and twist the pot clockwise/ hold 2/ then counter clockwise to recheck the ecu
codes.

I fried my ECU by regrounding my MAF with the battery still connected to the
car.

The symtoms you describe sound EXACTLY like what I had, when I had a code 12.

I actually blew the ground wire on the ECU, just past where the harness plugs in
with
a static discharge while soldering. If you reset your ecu, everythings' plugged
in tight,
and you still have the code, then it's your ECU, and not the MAF at all.

Additionally, the MAF harness connector wiring could be flaky/dirty/loose, check
the connector
over carefully after pulling back the rubber that covers it. It's a female
connector, the MAF has
the male side - try to clean it all up with some sort of electrical parts
cleaner, and grease it with
regular grease, NOT dielectric, which will short out the pins, since it does
conduct.

It's either the ecu is fried, or the wiring, both are quite possible,
disconnect your battery over night, and you'll make sure it's not an ecu phantom

making you chase your tail.

You have all the info man, you just need to follow protocol, closely, when
troubleshooting.

If you can find the stuff, I explored quite a lot of this in gory detail last
fall all
with the following in the subject line:

MAF Reground Nightmare
