I got a different impression reading the thread about J-spec vs.
American-spec QR25 engines. It sounds like if you can get your rings to
seat, the American engine will last longer because of the harder ring.
You said you were running Mobil 1 oil. I'd think it would take forever
for your rings to seat using a synthetic oil. I'd be using dino oil
until the oil consumption was under control.

Of course, I might have it all wrong.
