I looked at Andreas's 100rpm hp # and compared it to mine with my engine
only making 180whp (only???) and his making 200whp. I am pretty convinced
with the right cams that the VE would/will make as much low in torque as his
IF you use the same displacement by either boring or stroking the engine.
Even with the stock sr16 cams you will lose some low end tq BUT it will
start getting good about 5000rpm and hold strong till 7400rpm hp peak and
8000rpm shift possible more with tuning, etc. Thats not a bad hp range for
a car with basically I/H/E and cams. I have the sr16 cams in my possesion
and should install them soon. I have made almost as much as Bigtom (from
what he has posted, he always keeps his cards (ie: hp#'s) close to his chest
so to speak) with my stock VE has he has with his VE and the sr16 cams. I
should easily hit 192whp and 200whp would be in reach if I could afford the
cam gears to adjust the timing a little. Mike I am begging you. Please get
the cams and the crank made. Check the crank for fitment in the VE. Maybe
SR20Dev. still has the destroyed VE at the shop that you can use just for
test fitment purposes. As always thanks for all your development work.
