You know, it's funny.....  Like I said, I was cynical about the SCCA when I
got involved with club racing and now I'm more cynical about some of the
racers.  They bitch about the rules and the changes, blah, blah, blah.....

I think that is true for regional club racing as well.  I think that is why
Mike has such a bad taste for SCCA.  I know there is a lot of grumbling in
the DC region too and I suspect it's for much the same reason, althought I
*know* there are a lot of good people (not racers, *people*) in that region.

One problem, as you alluded to, is that the racers don't want to run the
club.  In the end, they prefer to let others (often non-racers or those who
no longer race) do it, and IMHO you make that decision and live with it.

All I know is I show up to a race and I don't have to tech.  I don't have
to work corners.  I don't have to work race control.  I don't have to
provide someone to do timing and scoring.  Pretty sweet deal.
