I used one years ago to take off the axle nuts.  It worked OK, but was a
bunch bulkier than an air wrench, and not as strong.

Impact sockets don't shatter and blow shrapnel in your face  ;)  They're
stronger, and less brittle.  If you use plain grade sockets, have some
safety glasses on!
