Hmm?  That doesn't sound right.  If there's a step down to the surface the
pressure plate bolts to, that should be similar to having a thicker
disk.  Which seems like it should deflect the diaphram spring further and
clamp harder.

It's been several years since I've seen my JUN, but I'm pretty sure it has
a step down at the outside.  Not drastic;  maybe just a few thou".
