Back flow can exisit on this engine due the the CVTC's
tremendous control authority (36 crank degree).  This
was how they eliminated the EGR valve on this
particular motor.

There is also pluse energy in the exhaust as well
which can be quite signifcant.  Note that proper
headers use timed rarefraction events to maximize VE
by creating low pressure during overlap.  I can just
as easily create high pressure under the same time if
that is the design intent.
