end of the road for this engine?

I think my engine's had it, after 207,000 kilometres.  It's had a lot of
hard use though, and they've been good kms :-)

I had a bit of an oil burning problem prior to my last session, but after
thrashing the car hard on the Long Track at Shannonville
http://www.shannonville.com I'm going through a *ton* of oil now.  I haven't
changed it yet, since the track date, perhaps that would help.

When I press the throttle at all, there's a lot smoking going on.  I suspect
badly worn rings.  I've driven the car about 800 kms, including the track
time, and the car has burned up nearly 4 litres of oil in that time.  I'm no
mechanic, but that's WAY out of spec :-P

Power's good, fuel economy is excellent.  I'll just keep the oil from
getting low while I think about engine options.  Anyone have helpful advice
for me, beside keeping an eye on the oil pressure for now?

And I know, get a DET :-)  I can transfer lots of parts from my old engine
if I get a DET (JWT ecu can have the turbo program burned in, S4 cams, etc.)
I'm thinking very seriously about that option :-)
