Transmission Fluid Question

Here is a quote from Mobil's datasheet for Mobil 1 gear lube (GL-5):

"It should not be used in any transmissions requiring an engine oil or
automatic transmission fluid, or GL-4 performance level."

This is typical of GL-5, it shouldn't be used in manual transmissions. I'm a
little skeptical of the shotgun fluids that "do it all"... kinda reminds me
of all-season tires.
