Is it coming right from the top where the timing chain is near the top of the valve cover ? there is a "shield" there that is over the sprockets. On my SE-R the chain would rub against that causing this same noise U said. I removed it completly- since the newer SE-Rs don't have it. Noise went away. I was on my 2nd tensioner already and it had about 50K miles on it. Mike Jez
