Sterling Moss quote

To put Sterling's quote into historical perspective,
remember that the safety items we take for granted
were not there to protect the driver. (roll bars,
safety belts, crash helmets, fireproof suits, fuel
cells, onboard fire extinguishers, kill switches,
crash barriers, etc.)

The mortality statistics for race car drivers were
shockingly high.

A simple mistake that we would shrug off as 'the
learning process' very often meant injury or death.

The lamest street econobox today is far safer than the
most advanced racecars of that era.
