Is this possible? Cat failure

Hi All

I just brought my car in for an annual inspection.  My 98 SER w/ only 38000
miles FAILED.  The computer printout shows it's problem with the cat.  I
thought the stock cat should last at least 100k miles? cat got stuck?  If I
ever have to replace the cat I'll probably go for the Random Cat.  I found
the part# to be 822230 for my 98 SER.  Has anyone install Random Cat on the
98 SER? Is it a direct bolt-on or I have to have the muffler shop welded on?
